Its a fixed frame type screen. There is "roll" screen that you can open or roll but there is 2 reasons why i prefer a fixed frame.
First reason and most important one is, compared to roll type screen, Fixed Frame screen make me really feel like real Cinema... Having a black wall with a big white screen permanently on it really give that feeling... :)
Second reason is for my first home theater i had a roll type screen and after 1 month it was already not flat anymore... each time i saw one somewhere it was never flat. Its difficult to keep flat a large screen if there is not something to keep tension on his 4 sides... and roll screen with system like that are very expensive... so that would be the practical reason...
Fixed frame screen stay flat for ever because the screen part have tension in his 4 sides.
3 times i made my own fixed screen by assembling a wood frame and attaching white fabric to it...
It was very nice already and cheap.
But this time because i needed a better white for HD projector the price difference between "making the screen myself" and buying a real one was less great so i decided to buy a real screen.
2 of the many advantages of that are : the frame is made of stainless steel and the screen part is a real high quality one made by a Canadian brand that make also screen for real cinema across Canada and USA.
I don't have picture of the time i was fixing the White screen on the Frame because it was a bit difficult to do it, as you can see, my screen is almost as large as my front wall lol so it was not easy going around it to fix the screen... so i forgot to take pictures :)
